Spectrum is a project that stems from an interest in the way people negotiate and reshape the landscape through their own perceptions and their need to reappropriate it using “technological filters”. The aim is to investigate the contemporary inclination to modify the landscape by treating it like a personalised aesthetic object on which to conduct a visual experiment, rather than as an element that exists in its own right. The intent is to better understand how new media influence our visual perceptions creating new interpretative paths and “filtering” our experience of seeing. The landscapes presented in the series depict both urban and suburban areas, over which the photographer juxtaposed colored plexiglass filters that create distortions and refractions.

(The visual effects in the pictures, such as doubling and refraction, have been obtained by means of analogue plexiglass filters)
